چکیده

The impact of fouling on the performance Reverse Electrodialysis operated with highly concentrated brine is a poorly investigated area. In this work, propensity and stability Ion Exchange Membranes (IEMs), developed by Fujifilm Manufacturing Europe BV (The Netherlands), under condition seawater brine. IEMs was depicted determination Gibbs energy barrier based-on Classical Nucleation along Theoretical modeling heterogeneous nucleation as function electrochemical (contact angle, permittivity, charge density) morphological (roughness) membrane properties validated CaCO3 precipitation. Results indicate that Cation (CEM) are more susceptible to scaling due reduced nucleation. FTIR-ATR analysis six months-aged membranes samples indicated partial modification in chemical structure Anion (AEM) induced organic associated humic substances. tensile tests demonstrated substantial mechanical IEMs. Lab-scale RED artificial over 30 days showed significant increase pressure drop through feed channels colloidal 23% reduction maximum gross power density consequent decrease net density.

Electric Power Generation with Reverse Electrodialysis

The computer simulation program of a practical scale reverse electrodialysis process has been developed based on the program for saline water electrodialysis. The program is applied to compute the performance of an industrial-scale reverse electrodialysis stack (effective membrane area S = 1 m × 1 m = 1 m2, cell pair number N = 300 pairs). The stack operatingconditions are optimized. Seaw...

Fouling Prediction in Reverse Osmosis Processes

In recent years, membrane separation processes have successfully established footholds in all areas of chemical separations. Semipermeable membranes are now enhancing and even replacing long-time standard techniques such as distillation and solvent extraction (1). They are also being used in the preparation of purified chemical and biological products as well as the treatment and recovery of ma...

A Fouling Index Reflecting Statistical Aspects of Fouling Process with Reverse Osmosis Desalination

Reverse osmosis membrane (RO) is becoming a most popular instrument to desalinate seawater as a result of new developments in membrane technology. The critical factor governing successful long-term reverse osmosis (RO) in desalination plants is fouling caused by the turbidity of seawater, such as by suspended solids, sparingly soluble salts, or biological growth. To reduce the turbidity, the se...
